I am a Certified Professional Midwife or CPM and a DONA trained doula/monitrice. My path to birth work began in my teenage years, when a midwife I met suggested that working in the birth world may be a good fit for me. Over the years, I heard this several more times from other birth workers– doulas and midwives alike. Instead, I went to college and I earned my B.A. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Cultural Sustainable Development from Western State College of Colorado in 2005. I worked happily in the environmental field for several years, and then I was invited to my first birth in 2007. It was a home birth, and I knew immediately that midwifery/birth work was the path for me. All of those people had been right!
I received my formal midwifery education from Birthwise Midwifery School, including 2 years of hands-on, clinical training with a 2 month study-abroad at Shiphrah Birthing Home in Manila, Philippines. I earned my CPM credential in June of 2013. Since then, I have had the privilege of practicing midwifery in both a birth center and home birth setting.
I am also an avid student of Ayurveda and Yoga, and have been studying for 7 years with Myra Lewin of Hale Pule Ayurveda and Yoga.
I believe deeply in the power and normality of birth, the love of laboring families, the innate wisdom of Ayurveda and I get a big kick out of newborn babies. I am honored to work with the many families I serve, and am always striving to better myself and my practice.
When I’m not at a birth, you can find me knitting, doing some yoga, meditating, in the water, or dancing some Argentine tango.
